Who are we?
No Data Centers San Gabriel Valley is a coalition of residents, community organizations, and advocates working to protect the health, safety, and quality of life of communities across the San Gabriel Valley. We formed in response to the rapid expansion of large industrial data center proposals throughout the region, often advanced without meaningful public input or regional planning.
Our coalition brings together neighbors from multiple cities who believe that decisions about massive infrastructure projects should prioritize community well-being, environmental protection, and long-term sustainability. Data centers place heavy demands on electricity and water systems, introduce industrial infrastructure into residential areas, and create risks that surrounding communities are often forced to bear.
We advocate for transparency, strong environmental review, and local policies that prevent harmful developments before they take root. Through public education, community organizing, and engagement with local governments, we are working to ensure that the San Gabriel Valley remains a place where residents, not corporations, shape the future of our communities.
Announcements and Actions
Call to Action: Attend the El Monte City Council Meeting
Wednesday, March 18 at 7:00 PM
You are welcome to attend El Monte City Hall for the upcoming City Council meeting and make the community’s voice heard.
City Council Meeting
El Monte City Hall
11333 Valley Blvd, El Monte
The City Council agenda will include a discussion item about a possible ban on data centers in El Monte.
This is an important opportunity for residents to share their views and ask the City Council to take action now to protect our community. Adopting a data center ban before projects are proposed is the most effective way to prevent large industrial facilities from being built in our neighborhoods. These facilities can increase electricity demand, consume large amounts of water, and create noise and safety concerns while providing very few long-term economic benefits for local residents.
Attend the meeting and speak during public comment to let the City Council know that the community supports a ban on data centers in El Monte.
Call to Action: Attend the City of Industry City Council Meeting
March 26 at 9:00 AM
We invite you to attend City of Industry City Hall for the upcoming City Council meeting and make the community’s voice heard.
City Council Meeting
City of Industry City Hall
15651 Mayor Dave Way, City of Industry
We call on residents and community members to attend the meeting and ask the City Council to remove Item 6.6 from the Consent Calendar and require the preparation of a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed data center and battery energy storage system project at Puente Hills Mall.
Large industrial projects that affect our communities should not be approved without a full environmental review or meaningful public participation. Residents of the San Gabriel Valley deserve transparent decision-making processes, clear accountability, and responsible land use planning.
Call to Action: Attend the Monterey Park City Council Meeting
Wednesday, April 15 at 6:30 PM
We invite you to attend Monterey Park City Hall for the upcoming City Council meeting and make the community’s voice heard.
City Council Meeting
Monterey Park City Hall
320 W Newmark Ave, Monterey Park
The agenda will include a Council Action Ordinance to ban data centers citywide.
If approved, this ordinance would immediately prohibit data centers in Monterey Park and also strengthen and support the upcoming ballot measure in which voters will decide whether to ban data centers.
This is a key moment. Attend the meeting and speak during public comment to urge the City Council to adopt the ordinance, immediately protect our community, and support residents’ right to decide the future of the city through the vote.
